Marie’s Story:
Dancing Toward Hope

Marie is 32 and full of life. She loves dancing, shopping, spending time with her peers, and visiting her family. But behind her radiant spirit lies a complex medical history—Marie is immunocompromised due to a kidney transplant and must navigate daily life with care and caution.

Though she receives services through her local Regional Center, Marie does not have a special needs trust and has very limited income, with most of her Social Security benefits going directly to her room and board. Like many of our clients, she has little left over for personal needs—especially critical health-related costs.

Thanks to the generosity of our donors, The Good Shepherd Fund was able to reimburse Marie for out-of-pocket prescription co-pays through donations. This allowed her to preserve her limited funds for the things that bring her joy—like shopping for new dance clothes and participating in activities that fuel her spirit.

Every time Marie dances, she celebrates life—one that is made more vibrant and secure because of supporters like you. Your donations provide direct, tangible impact, ensuring that clients like Marie don’t have to choose between their health and their happiness.
