Good Shepherd Fund Story

In the mid-1900s, a young couple learned their son was mentally disabled. Since there was nothing modern medicine could do for him, the doctor suggested the couple give him to a home – and rid their minds of him. Distraught and desperate for answers the couple met with Pastor Harold “Swede” Johnson for comfort and guidance. As a newly ordained pastor, he was at loss for words.

Unable to console the family, Pastor Johnson committed his life to making it up to the couple, and the disability community. He became a prolific fundraiser and advocate and raised millions of dollars for an assortment of charity organizations serving the disabled community.

In 1970, he took things a step further and formed The Good Shepherd Fund. A non-profit organization committed to improving the overall quality of life for vulnerable minors and adults by offering professional services like Guardianship or Conservator of the Person, Power of Attorney, and Conservator of the Estate.

In 1999, The Good Shepherd Fund expanded, and began administering various trusts and estates helping minors and adults maintain their government benefits, protect their money, and manage their spending.

The legacy Pastor Johnson started over fifty years ago continues to live on through The Good Shepherd Fund.
